Kirkby Town Centre

After years of failed development schemes, Kirkby Town Centre is a shadow of what it used to be and what it should have become. With the failure of the St. Modwen development, and Knowsley Council having bought their property in the town centre, it is even more important than ever that the people of Kirkby have their voices heard on the future of their town centre.

That’s why we are working with the community to develop a Vision of Kirkby Town Centre independent of those making the decisions, including looking at how new housing could be included in the town centre in future.

Knowsley Council have not publicised many details of their plans, other than to push ahead with the retail development on the old ASDA site. But previously announced plans about a new cinema/restaurant complex on the site of the old library and social security building have gone quiet and no planning permission is in place for it.

However, if you want to know more about the history of Kirkby Town Centre then take a look at the history of Kirkby Town Centre we have put together, view a summary of Knowsley Council’s own news articles or view a summary of Place North West’s news articles.
